Privacy policy
Last updated: 17 April 2026. Operator jurisdiction: Netherlands.
Fermentcalc is a reference site. It does not require a user account, does not capture email addresses, and does not log personal data by design.
What we collect
- Aggregate analytics. Page-view counts via Vercel Analytics (no cookies; hashed, aggregate IP; no personal data persisted). Optionally, a Plausible Analytics instance may replace or supplement this — also cookieless and aggregate-only.
- Server logs.Standard request metadata (timestamp, user-agent, referrer, IP address) is handled by Vercel’s edge infrastructure for abuse prevention. These logs are retained per Vercel’s published retention policy and never linked to personal identifiers.
- Advertising cookies (once AdSense is active). When Google AdSense is enabled on this domain, Google may set cookies used for ad personalisation on devices that have consented to them. Visitors in the EU, UK and California will see a consent banner gating those cookies; rejecting the banner results in non-personalised ads.
What we do NOT collect
- Email addresses, names, or contact details — we have no sign-up form.
- User accounts, saved recipes, saved ferments — no such feature exists.
- Location data beyond the approximate country suggested by your IP.
- Comment or forum data — the site has no comment sections.
Third-party services
- Vercel — hosting + edge delivery. See vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Plausible (optional) — privacy-first analytics. See plausible.io/privacy.
- Google AdSense (when active) — advertising. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other sites. Opt out of personalised ads at google.com/settings/ads.
Your rights
Under GDPR (applying to all visitors regardless of location, as the site is operated from the EU) you can request information about what, if anything, is held about you, and ask for its deletion. Since Fermentcalc does not store personal data itself, such requests are typically a matter of contacting the relevant third party (Vercel, Google, Plausible). If you believe data is being held incorrectly, please contact us.
Change your cookie choice
Withdrawing consent must be as easy as giving it. Use the button below to reset your choice — the consent banner will reappear so you can pick again.
Changes
This policy may be updated as the site evolves (for example when AdSense or a newsletter is added). Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a revised Last updated date.
